The Thick Of It

Whatever Ricky Gervais manages with his forthcoming Extras, the best new comedy of the year must surely go to Armando Iannucci's The Thick Of It. This three part comedy was a brilliant piece of work, revolving around a ineffective minister with no real policies, his apparatchiks and the enforcer (ie Alistair Campbell). It's a 21st century Yes Minister.

Some have complained about the language and others the shaky camera work. But they both give it a kind of authenticity - have you heard the language in the average office these days?

The real crime is that they've only made three episodes so far. Still I'm told that more are on the way before the full series swiftly moves across to BBC2.
