The Outsiders

Wow. Who knew that ITV could make programmes this bad? The Outsiders seemed to have been some kind of ITV attempt to do a Spooks. Except that the scriptwriter and producers seem to have spent far too much time watching American series Alias. Oh, and in the lead role, they've managed to pick an actor, Nigel Harman, who doesn't seem to be able to act. Mind you, Sir Ian MacKellan would have struggled with some of the dialogue that Harman and others were forced to verbalise.

The biggest problem was that the programme was just dull. It had a few nice graphical elements with an almost ITC-like yellow transition thing going on, but the story was muddled and stupid, and the special effects weren't really all that great.

Still, I'd love to have been the Barclay brothers watching this programme. The two dastardly criminals seemed to have been modelled directly on them, and lived on some kind of CGI fort somewhere near the Hebrides.

Let's hope that they don't make a series. And when will ITV learn that signing up ex-Eastenders actors is not the way to riches (although I didn't see the Shane Ritchie programme at the weekend).
