Spooks

Well Tim Henman forced Spooks off our screens, with BBC 3 repeating the previous week’s claustrophobic episode.
Once again, we had no actual “incident”, rather the ramifications of a Presidential visit to the UK. The episode seemed reasonably realistic, although any kind of personnel officer who behaved as the MI5 one did wouldn’t last long.
I quite liked the fact that Natasha Little’s character is quite so vindictive. And what an excellent idea, putting up flyers in Soho phone boxes and clubs offering “services”, and printing Tom’s phone numbers. It seems absolutely right that it should be Natasha Little since she was excellent as Becky Sharp a few years ago in Vanity Fair (although it’s strange that she’s to be in another version of the book being made into a Reese Witherspoon film – I don’t believe that a film can ever do Thackery’s book justice).
Good to see that our American cousins are getting more involved with MI5 too. An interesting little twist. I do enjoy Spooks – a definite appointment to view.
