I’ve just been watching part one of a perfectly average two part whodunnit on ITV (Hey! With the Tour de France, that makes two seperate ITV programmes this weekend!).
But it was really let down by one aspect – the sound. The effects were really lazy. This isn’t the sort of thing I’d normally look for, but in at least two cases, the sound we heard had no bearing on what we saw. First a boyfriend kicked a brick wall in disgust except it sounded like he was kicking a shed door. Then later we saw a small Olympus compact camera, except the motor-wind we heard was quite obviously that of a large SLR camera. Both small things, but as someone who doesn’t look out for these things, it was jarring to see two poor examples in one programme.
