{"id":1400,"date":"2006-02-10T12:49:49","date_gmt":"2006-02-10T12:49:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/2006\/02\/free_dvd_update\/"},"modified":"2006-02-10T12:49:49","modified_gmt":"2006-02-10T12:49:49","slug":"free_dvd_update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/blog\/2006\/02\/free_dvd_update\/","title":{"rendered":"Free DVD Update"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A bumper weekend is in store this weekend for us collectors of free DVDs.<br \/>\nThe Telegraph papers are going &#8220;kitchen sink&#8221; crazy with <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0054269\/\">Saturday Night, Sunday Morning<\/a> in the Saturday paper, followed by <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0055506\/\">A Taste of Honey<\/a> in the Sunday Telegraph (top tip &#8211; if you struggle to find the Sunday Telegraph, try looking at the papers that seem to be regional titles. They&#8217;ve cleverly redesigned their paper to look like the Irish Sunday Independent or Yorkshire Post or something).<br \/>\nThe Independent continues its quest to educate us in the lesser known lights of European cinema by offering us <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0211309\/\">Il Cielo Cade<\/a> (The Sky is Falling) starring Isabella Rossellini. (I still haven&#8217;t learnt French or Spanish via The Independent, and Italian&#8217;s on the way&#8230;)<br \/>\nThe Times are offering a Woody Allen &#8220;classic&#8221; in <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0065063\/\">Take The Money and Run<\/a>, while the Mail on Sunday offers us the Michael Winner\/Robert Mitchum version of <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0077234\/\">The Big Sleep<\/a> &#8211; obviously a poor Philip Marlowe remake and not to be confused the Elliot Gould\/Robert Altman Marlowe film <a href=\"http:\/\/us.imdb.com\/title\/tt0070334\/\">The Long Goodbye<\/a>, which was not re-set in London.<br \/>\nPlenty to keep us busy and ABC circulation figures artificially and expensively boosted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A bumper weekend is in store this weekend for us collectors of free DVDs.
