{"id":2186,"date":"2008-01-22T17:21:31","date_gmt":"2008-01-22T17:21:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/2008\/01\/im_a_lumberjack\/"},"modified":"2008-01-22T17:21:31","modified_gmt":"2008-01-22T17:21:31","slug":"im_a_lumberjack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/blog\/2008\/01\/im_a_lumberjack\/","title":{"rendered":"I&#8217;m A Lumberjack And I&#8217;m OK"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>You may well have seen the <a href=\"http:\/\/news.bbc.co.uk\/1\/hi\/england\/7199667.stm\">pictures<\/a> of all the wood that&#8217;s piled up in places like Worthing beach from the wreck of the Ice Prince which sank a week ago off the Dorset coast.<br \/>\nBut the timber&#8217;s not limited to Worthing. Walking along the Brighton beach front earlier today, I was amazed at the quantity to be found there!<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/adambowie\/2212601082\/\" title=\"Timber by adambowie, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2418\/2212601082_a0055275cb.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Timber\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe wood is piled up right along the shoreline.<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/adambowie\/2212602988\/\" title=\"Timber by adambowie, on Flickr\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2351\/2212602988_964dfd6a62.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"375\" alt=\"Timber\" border=\"0\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nThe <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theargus.co.uk\/\">local paper<\/a> has pointed out that the wood is useless since it&#8217;s been in the sea for a week and therefore won&#8217;t be too useful if you&#8217;re planning on decking your garden. And in any event, you can&#8217;t just go and grab stuff off the beach without filling out a form.<br \/>\nI&#8217;ve got a copy of Bella Bathurst&#8217;s book on Wreckers in my &#8220;to read&#8221; pile &#8211; and she also fronted a recent Timewatch on the same subject.
