I&#8217;ve written about this self-appointed, self-elected organisation <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/weblog\/archive\/001035.html\">before<\/a> &#8211; and the fact that it has very little if anything to do with, well, the foreign press.<br \/>\nNow everyone loves a prize, and I suppose that if I was up for one, I wouldn&#8217;t say no. At the very least, you get a nice dinner out of it. I believe that they raise money for charity too, which is a fine thing.<br \/>\nBut, frankly, the awards might just as well be handed out by the Hollywood Nanny&#8217;s Association and they&#8217;d mean as much to me. While the Oscars are voted for by around 6,000 individuals (categories vary), the Golden Globes are voted for by 90 individuals.<br \/>\nAt least the forthcoming BAFTAs are handed out by industry peers like the Oscars, and not a self-serving organisation that&#8217;s not even representative of the industry it claims to represent.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lots of areas of the media are getting excited about the annual Golden Globes handed out by an organisation called the &#8220;Hollywood Foreign Press Association&#8221;.
