Well the BBC for ages have been collating the nations favourite Big Reads, and some while ago published to top 100<\/a>. This has now been further whittled down to the top 21.

\nMany of these I have read. Some I would never read. Some I own, but haven’t yet felt able to either pick up and start, or just get beyond a few pages. So based on all that criteria, here are the books that I’ve yet to read, but feel I must. In no particular order:
\nA Town Like Alice – Nevil Shute
\nCatch 22 – Joseph Heller
\nCold Comfort Farm – Stella Gibbons
\nCrime And Punishment – Fyodor Dostoyevsky
\nDon Quixote – Miguel De Cervantes
\nGormenghast – Mervyn Peake
\nHis Dark Materials – Philip Pullman
\nLucky Jim – Kingsley Amis
\nNostromo – Joseph Conrad
\nOf Mice And Men – John Steinbeck
\nOn The Road – Jack Kerouac
\nPilgrim’s Progress – John Bunyan
\nThe Alexandria Quartet – Lawrence Durrell
\nThe Deptford Trilogy – Robertson Davies
\nThe Magus – John Fowles
\nThe Picture of Dorian Gray – Oscar Wilde
\nThe Pursuit Of Love – Nancy Mitford
\nThe Ragged Trousered Philanthropists – Robert Tressell
\nThe Secret History – Donna Tartt
\nThe Woman In White – Wilkie Collins
\nThree Men in a Boat – Jerome K. Jerome
\nUnderworld – Don Delillo
\nObviously I reserve the right to change these as I see fit!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
