{"id":792,"date":"2004-08-10T18:23:20","date_gmt":"2004-08-10T18:23:20","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/2004\/08\/the_light_of_da\/"},"modified":"2004-08-10T18:23:20","modified_gmt":"2004-08-10T18:23:20","slug":"the_light_of_da","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/blog\/2004\/08\/the_light_of_da\/","title":{"rendered":"The Light of Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It took me two or three attempts to get through this relatively short novel which I think says something about what I thought of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0141012013\">The Light of Day<\/a>.<br \/>\nThe story takes place on a nominal day, and as our protagonist, a former policeman and now private investigator heads off to prison to visit someone. I&#8217;ll be honest and say that I found it hard work. I couldn&#8217;t easily empathise with any of the characters &#8211; something I find I really have to do in most novels. So I can&#8217;t wholeheartedly recommend it. I notice that some of the reviewers on the cover talk about reading it in one sitting.
