{"id":979,"date":"2005-01-11T22:51:04","date_gmt":"2005-01-11T22:51:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/2005\/01\/the_three_muske\/"},"modified":"2005-01-11T22:51:04","modified_gmt":"2005-01-11T22:51:04","slug":"the_three_muske","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/blog\/2005\/01\/the_three_muske\/","title":{"rendered":"The Three Musketeers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having recently read <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/weblog\/archive\/001049.html\">The Dumas Club<\/a> (not to be confused with the more recent <a href=\"http:\/\/www.adambowie.com\/weblog\/archive\/000704.html\">Dante Club<\/a>), it did occur to me that I probably had most of my knowledge of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/0192835750\">The Three Musketeers<\/a> from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.co.uk\/exec\/obidos\/ASIN\/B0002PC2V8\">Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds<\/a> (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.80snostalgia.com\/classictv\/dogtanian\/sounds\/theme.wav\">altogether now<\/a>).<br \/>\nSo I felt duty bound to read the original, and what a barnstorming read it is too. The episodic nature of its original publication is very clear, and it&#8217;s also very apparent that the over-arching story could be extended or shortened as was seen necessary. I suppose I ought to move on to The Count of Monte Cristo, but there&#8217;s a daunting read.
