Guardian: Compact or Not Compact

FT Creative Media has an interview (somewhere here with a subscription) with Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger about the future of The Guardian. A couple of weeks ago, The Guardian came out as not going down the tabloid route.
The suggestion is that a mid-sized paper, somewhere between a broadsheet and a tabloid, might be a possibility. The plants can’t do that size at the moment, but I think that it’s safe to say that if they don’t someone else will.
The Independent will certainly go fully tabloid before long, while The Times is in a difficult limbo – I don’t know how long they’ll be able to keep it up.
The one really incredible fact in the piece is the snippet that The Guardian takes two thirds of all recruitment advertising. Truly amazing.
