Radio Times Supplements

I get to see the Radio Times every week, and around this time of year, it’s stuffed full of catalogues for you to pick your presents in time for Christmas. Not too long ago, I noticed that the Innovations catalogue was back from the dead (it was previously shut down, which meant that I could no longer get my favourite ever Innovations product. “Is your TV too small? Why not make it bigger”. It was a large magnifying sheet of perspex that you put in front of your screen to make it, well, larger!).
Anyway, today brought forth the Boogaloo catalogue full of toys, games and DVDs. I quite liked the 18,000 piece 9 foot by 6 foot “World’s biggest jigsaw”, and the idea that I might “Play records through your hi-fi” did intrigue me.
But it’s the toys and games that are the highlight of this catalogue. The Yes/No game retails at £9.99 and mirrors the old Des O’Connor, Take Your Pick mechanic. Des managed to play this game without a box to help him.
Still some people do have trouble playing parlour games that involve the smallest degree of imagination – since also available is Charades – another game that you didn’t know you really needed to buy! Well… coming up with film, book, TV, song and play titles is pretty tough going. But some people find even that too taxing, so they can play Who’s In The Bag, the game where you have no need to “stand up and make exaggerated gestures”. Play it sitting down instead!
