The American tourist board are currently running a series of ads to get us to visit their wonderful country. This uses the guise of films with the tagline “You’ve seen the film, now visit the set.” Now, leaving aside the unsuitability of some of the titles (Leaving Las Vegas really isn’t the film to put us in quite the right frame of mind when we’re next in Vegas surely UPDATE: Actually it was Viva Las Vegas which is a whole different film), they’ve followed this up with a poster campaign, of which the picture below is a sample:

So they’ve used King Kong – a film that an awful lot of people know was actually shot in New Zealand. All the New York footage was done on sound stages there, or in a computer, also in NZ.
