Sky’s done some very annoying things over the past few weeks, not least announcing that they want to pull off Freeview and the stupid war they’re having with Virgin Media over their basic channels.
At least they’ve got something right. They’ve just released Remote Record via your PC. Bizarrely both texting them, and implementing a mobile application came before the basic web functionality.
Anyway, you can now log onto the Sky website and remotely tell your Sky+ or SkyHD to record programmes when you’re away from your box.

Interesting. They’ve not communicated this to their customers – to me, anyway.
Trying to sign up tells me that I don’t have a Sky+ account (I have Sky HD, which is probably confusing it) so I can’t use it at all. Though I *can* use the mobile thing, which I’ve downloaded, and that’s really impressive.
No. They haven’t told me either. I just happened to read about it in someone else’s blog. Indeed it’s seemingly been live for a couple of weeks now.
It’s a confusing process signing up and I did something via the TV a couple of times before repeating the process online. That seemed to do the trick. Not that you could tell.
The only way of knowing seems to be by going into the TV Guide in MySky and finding a programme and seeing if it has a red “remote record” button.
