Giro d’Italia

Giro d’Italia

Today was the start of the Giro d’Italia. The Slovenian rider, Primož Roglič, won the first stage time trial up to the Sanctuary of the Madonna di San Luca high above Bolognia. British rider Simon Yates came second, while Londoner Tao Geoghegan Hart finished 7th. There are three weeks of riding to look forward to, and I’ll be helping produce various episodes of The Cycling Podcast.

The image above is a linocut print based on a design I created previously for a screen printed t-shirt. I’m fairly pleased with this, although it’s by no means perfect. I’d been meaning to do some more linocuts for a while, and this is probably my best result so far.

I think it helped getting some proper cutting tools rather than one of those combined ones you get in kits.

I think it’s also an improvement using oil-based ink rather than water-based. The downside is that it’s messy and you need additional supplies to clean it up properly.
