Ride #4 of this year’s Festive 500 was the longest of my rides so far, heading out in the pre-dawn from Sheringham on the North Norfolk coast, southeast along the coast through Cromer, Overstrand, and down to Winterton-on-Sea where the seals gather on the beach. I stopped for a warm tea at the van (it was cold today), and a snack to fuel me on.
I reached the village of California (there are a few in the UK) inland via the Norfolk Broads National Park towards Wroxham. Then it was northwest back towards my starting point via the town of Aylsham and the impressive Blickling Hall.
The full route is on Strava, although note that a short section was along a sandy footpath that required me to get off and walk.
I now have 126KM still to ride, although Wednesday’s weather does not look good – wet and windy. So I may leave it until closer to New Year’s Eve to knock off the final ride. In any case, my Garmin was suggesting 61 hours off the bike!
